Alfred Taylor, a WWII veteran, moved to Toronto from Halifax in 1949. Compassionate and community-minded, he devoted decades as a volunteer at a local rehabilitation centre, served as an active Royal Canadian Legion member and supported youth at Covenant House.

“Covenant House was my uncle’s favorite charity,” says Alfred’s nephew Bob Marple. “He liked the fact that the agency was there for anyone who needed help, no matter who they were.”

For more than 24 years, Alfred was a dedicated monthly donor until he passed away at 95. That’s when a handwritten note was found in Alfred’s will to ensure a gift be left to his favourite charity. “My uncle was a gentleman and I believe his gift to Covenant House truly honours his memory.”

Alfred is among our special White Dove Society members including those who have or are planning to leave a bequest to continue to support our youth in the future.
