Who should apply to the Covenant House Next Gen?

Covenant House Toronto’s Next Gen Council should reflect the community which it serves. The city of Toronto is made up of a vibrant and diverse population, comprising individuals from all walks of life. Thus it is essential that the Covenant House Toronto Next Gen Council looks and feels familiar to the donors, clients and/or stakeholders who are part of our community.

In an effort to ensure that the Covenant House Toronto Next Gen Council is maximizing its reach throughout the community, we will be looking for, and encouraging individuals to apply who come from diverse personal and professional backgrounds. This includes but is not limited to, gender, race and ethnicity. Similarly, we will be actively attempting to diversify the professional sectors our Council members represent.

All Council spots are currently filled; however, new applicants will be contacted as spots become available.

Our ideal Council member is:

Between the ages of 25-35
Come from a diverse background
They will have professional skills such as
- Networking
- Marketing
- Event planning
- Project management
- Community development
- Fundraising
- Business competencies
- Driven by a personal connection to the cause.

Objectives Of the Covenant House Toronto Next Gen Council

The launch of the Covenant House Toronto Next Gen Council is a strategic effort to do succession planning for the next generations of volunteers, supporters, advocates and community leaders of Covenant House Toronto.

It is a strategy to diversify our leadership with young professionals whose skills and backgrounds differ from those of our Board and will strengthen our ability to connect with younger generations of community leaders, prospects and volunteers.

The same message and marketing strategies that worked five years ago won’t deliver the same results five years from now. The Covenant House Toronto Next Gen Council is intended to provide useful guidance and strategy in this area. Our Council members will offer marketing experience, technical skills, generational insights and business savvy that can help make Covenant House Toronto more relevant to and resonant with key, younger demographics that have yet to be tapped, building a foundation for future success in the process.

Membership Agreement:

Attend 75% of Covenant House Next Gen meetings for a two-year term
Participate in the planning of a Covenant House Next Gen Fundraising event to raise a minimum of $15,000

- Recruit sponsorship, and /or recruit attendees to Covenant House Next Gen events

Join a subcommittee related to the Next Gen event or related to giving feedback on Covenant House initiatives
Introduce your network to Covenant House Toronto
Commit to personally raising $1,000
