Earlier this year, we hosted our first Pop-Up Shop, with racks of new and gently used clothes and tables filled with shoes and toiletry donations. Youth were invited to help themselves to items they liked or needed. After an afternoon of shopping and fun with our staff DJ and sundae station, youth really enjoyed themselves. The event was so successful that we had to do it again!
As the team planned for the next Pop-Up Shop, we knew we were going to need extra help as the event grew. Northbridge, a generous supporter of Covenant House answered this need. After touring the House and learning more about our programs, a group from the company spent time at the shop helping to keep the racks full and the young people smiling.
“I think we all knew that Covenant House was there to help at-risk youth however, I don’t think any of us were aware of the extent of services provided to these young people. To provide assistance with budgeting, health needs, educational needs, core skills such as meal preparation, cleaning etc., was an eyeopener. These are life skills we learn from our parents and are key to being able to manage our lives as adults. It was truly inspirational to learn that in addition to providing a safe haven, you also provide guidance and life skills training to these young people to help them be successful.” – Vicky Todd, Director, Premium Accounting
Thank you Northbridge for your generosity in helping youth experiencing homelessness and trafficking. 💙
