Art has the power to heal and is an important vehicle for the growth of youth at Covenant House Toronto (CHT). On June 28, we are inviting the community to join us for a fun filled art exhibit event, Take 5, that will raise funds and celebrate the artistic talents of CHT youth.
Hosted at the Abbozzo Gallery downtown, Take 5 will bring guests an experience of the body’s five senses – sight, smell, sound, taste and touch. During the event, attendees will be invited to view original youth art from CHT’s art program while enjoying food, drinks, and entertainment. Tickets can be purchased online with proceeds to support CHT.
The event also allows youth the chance to sell their art, which is an important way for them to feel empowered and receive financial compensation for their work, says event organizer Michelle Owen.
“It is incredibly important to uplift the voices, minds, and creations of those who demonstrate bravery in self-expression, especially youth,” says Owen, who is a member of the Next Generation Council, a group of young professional leaders committed to supporting the current and future work of Covenant House to help youth move to a brighter future.
“Supporting these creations in an encouraging environment will hopefully give the youth artists confidence that leads to even greater works.”
All proceeds from the art will go directly to the artists and guests will also have a chance to donate to Covenant House and win some incredible raffle prizes.
Thank you to all youth for showcasing your talents and our event sponsors for your support!
