Located on Front Street in the heart of the city, Wildlife Thrift is a popular thrift shop that collects donated items for resale. As part of their business model the trendy shop donates a portion of their sales to Covenant House, while also ensuring that youth at Covenant House can come in, shop and get what they need at no cost.

Karla Ahlqvist, owner, shares “Back in 2001 when my husband and I took over the Wildlife Thrift Store in Vancouver, it was impossible to ignore the number of customers who would come in that were experiencing homelessness. Young and old with truly nothing, it became overwhelmingly obvious that our neighbourhood needed support and we made it our mission to support them.

When we arrived in Toronto last November, we saw the exact same situation. We feel it’s our duty to give back to the community. It only seemed right to donate to those experiencing homelessness all around us. Covenant House Toronto was the obvious choice to support.

People feel good bringing items in and shopping with us knowing that we donate clothing and a portion of our profits to Covenant House. Through us, they are supporting and helping young people in need.”

Thank you to Wildlife Thrift for your commitment to our community and young people!
